Schengen Visa Insurance

Schengen Countries

Schengen Visa is a common visa that allows travel to 26 Schengen countries. Schengen Visa holders, are free to travel from country to country, and are granted a temporary stay of 90 days over the course of six months for business or tourism.

Schengen countries:  Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

There are 38 countries (including the U.S.) whose citizens don’t even need to apply for a Schengen Visa to enter any of the Schengen countries. Citizens of other countries, or for those who are working or staying for longer than three months, will need to apply for a Schengen Visa. To apply, applicants need to first identify the Schengen country where they will be spending the most time, and then visit that country’s embassy. However to travel to Schengen countries a visitor is required to have health insurance coverage that meets certain requirements.

Schengen Visa Insurance is a Must!

Extract from “Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 13 July 2009”, which entered in force on April 5 of 2010:

The insurance shall be valid throughout the territory of the Member States and cover the entire period of the person’s intended stay or transit. The minimum coverage shall be EUR 30,000” (…)
