New Changes to Atlas Travel SM Products

HCC Medical Insurance Services, LCC (HCCMIS®) would like to announce new changes, effective 4/1/13, to Atlas Travel products.  Atlas Travel SM products provide international travel medical insurance for periods of travel between five days and 12 months. With these products, you will find a broad range of deductibles, coverage maximums and benefits to suit your clients’ needs. All applications received as of 4/1/2013 or later will be subject to the new benefits and rates for the following products: 

  • Atlas Travel SM (Atlas America SM and Atlas International SM)
  • Atlas Group SM
  • DayTripper

Changes include:

  • Added coverage for additional medical professionals including Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), and Physician Assistants (PA)
  • Added Atlas America eligibility for individuals 80+ with a policy max of $10,000
  • Added free child up to age 10 with each parent. Maximum of two free children.
  • Acute onset of pre-existing conditions
    • Benefit limit adjusted to policy maximum for $50,000 option
    • All other policy maximums adjusted to a benefit max of $100,000
  • Updated Physical Therapy benefit to a per day maximum from a per visit maximum
  • Removed benefit limitations and exclusions on cardiovascular events
  • Added specific list of non-covered sports: aviation (except when traveling solely as a passenger in a commercial aircraft); base jumping; sky surfing; motorized vehicles including all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and dirt motorized dirt bikes, (jet skis excepted) , snow skiing, or snowboarding, except for recreational downhill and/or cross country snow skiing or snowboarding (no coverage provided while skiing away from prepared and marked in-bound territories and/or against the advice of the local ski school or local authoritative body); racing by any animal or motorized vehicle; spelunking; sub aqua pursuits involving underwater breathing apparatus unless PADI/NAUI certified, or accompanied by a certified instructor at depths of less than 10 meters; avalanche training; Aussie rules football; big game hunting; bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, any type of boxing or martial arts, hot air ballooning as a pilot; jousting; modern pentathlon; powerlifting; quad biking outdoor endurance events, speed trials; speedway; wrestling.
